History

History

Since its establishment in 1973, radical changes have been made within the scope of the status and administrative commitment of the Vocational Technology School of our University (which has Woodworking Industrial Engineering Department). The start of education is based on two-year associate degree programs as in some other engineering departments. In 1975, the department was converted into a 4-year undergraduate program in engineering, including a one-year English preparatory class before the undergraduate program. The English preparatory class, which was abolished in 1981, was reopened in 1998 and 30% of the undergraduate courses were taught in English. In 1986, the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Master's program was opened within the Institute of Science.

The chronological process related to the administrative commitment and educational activities of the Vocational Technology School of our University, which has the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Department, is as follows;

1973 - Associate degree education started at the Vocational Technology School affiliated to the Rectorate (Departments: Woodworking, Electrical-Electronics, Cooperative Management, Tourism Management).

1975 - The associate degree program was abolished and turned into a 4-year undergraduate program and the education period was regulated as 5 years with the addition of a one-year English Preparatory Class.

1982 - The Departments of Electrical-Electronics, Cooperative Management and Tourism Management within the Vocational Technology School were connected to other units. The Department of Woodworking was left within the School. The Woodworking Department (to operate within the Vocational Technology School) has been redefined as Woodworking Industrial Engineering to provide undergraduate education in the 4-year Industrial Engineering formation. Vocational Technology School was affiliated to the Faculty of Engineering with the law numbered 2809 published in the Official Gazette and Woodworking Industrial Engineering undergraduate education continued.

1986 - The Department of Woodworking Industrial Engineering was opened within the Institute of Science and Technology and students were admitted to the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Master's Program.

1992 - Vocational Technology School was affiliated to the Rectorate with the Law No. 3837 and continued her undergraduate education in Woodworking Industrial Engineering.

1998 - The education period of the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program within the Vocational Technology School was increased to 5 years with the addition of the English Preparatory Class and 1/3 of the undergraduate courses were started to be taught in English.

So far, 1250 students have graduated from the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program within the Vocational Technology School. 200 students have graduated from the Woodworking Industrial Engineering Master's Program within the Institute of Science and Technology so far.
